Where can you get profiles for inks and paper? Specifically, MIS inks and Torchon, legion matte,Albrecht Durer 210 and Hahnemuhle 230? Have you purchased all of your profiles or is there a place to get usable profiles free or @ a nominal cost? Thank you. Regards Tim www.portraitsofnature.net

Two that immediately come to mind: http://www.profilecity.com http://www.chromatics.com These two companies create custom profiles based on your printer. These are not canned profiles. I would guess that they'd run about $125-200 per profile (one inkset with one paper). Depending on your level of pickiness, I'd say this is money that is well-invested. Also depending on how many papers/inksets you'd want to profile. Compared to doing it yourself: Xrite DTP41: about $2000 ColorVision ProfilerPro: $899 -Mark Tucker http://marktucker.com

Tim, while the piezo plug-in comes with in built profiles for several papers which are created for their own inks, MIS is providing certain workflows for their different ink-sets. ie: John Woolf workflow for the Full Specrum inks if you use them without the Piezo driver (what works fine) - or the Paul Roark curves for the Variable Mix inkset. Most of these curves are created to match a standard paper (EPSON Archival Matte) and are more or les printer-specific , so for the papers you mentioned you should do some (minor) curve adjustments in PS. I suppose, that one or two profiles will do it for the mentioned papers, which are Hahnemuhles mostly - they have the same coating, so they should print very similar. BTW MIS has a workflow page (www.inksupply.com)where you can read more about profiles. They are for free. If it's ICC profiles and a Windows XP PC, put in C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color For QTR's profiles(.qidf), at C:\Program Files\QuadToneRIP\Profiles Hope this help. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "deandadin" <deandadin@...> wrote:
