Digital BW, The Print

I'm in the process of getting a R270 to do BO with Eboni. Two questions:

I want to build a CIS unit using a damper. Here in South Africa I can 
get Epson dampers for a 3000 or a 7600/9600. Which should I use?

I only want to use one position and leave the others unused. (I'll put 
the chips a la Paul's suggested method). Can I leave the other jets 
completely open  or should I put dampers in there with say a 
water/glycerine mix?

I would suggest putting in the extra dampers and use some form of fluid 
or else you will burn out the heads. It will also cause problems when 
the printer does a head cleaning because there will be an easy path for 
the pump to suck a less viscous fluid (air), so it will not pull the 
ink through properly. I think the 3000 dampers might be best, though 
I'm not entirely sure because I haven't seen how the ink carts go in 
that printer. If it is like most of the desktop printers, the 3000 
dampers should work. Also dampers from the 5000, 5500, 
7000/7500/9000/9500 should work too.

I concur with Greg. You don't want dry jets.  

Also, you'll probably need a ribbon with 6 tubes anyway.  These 
ribbons flop all over the place if too narrow.  Getting one of these 
that is appropriate will be one of the challenges.  I'm not sure what 
the best source is.

You'll also probably need some way to transition between the damper 
and the inlet size as well as the incoming tubing.  The dampers I 
have for the 7500 use a smaller tube.
