Try using wider margins and also use the rear single sheet feeder.

Yes...

I'm having the SAME problem with a 1280 and using the "thick" paper setting with MIS UT2 inks..but the problem is NOT the inks as the paber is "scuffed" just outside of the picture area..I believe the problem begins on the bottom left and right sides of the print during the initial "grab" of the paper into the printer..As well..I don't know of a cure..

I thought I'd must mention that I found gummed up rollers were causing
vertical banding in my 1800 with the glop overcoats. A sheet of EEM
sprayed with ammonia across the middle and run the printer, followed by
some plain paper, seems to have taken a lot of ink off the rollers and
helped the vertical banding issue I was having. (No clue as to the
print getting lighter or discolored)

With the respect to the print getting lighter or discolored near the end:
I experienced the same problem with gold fiber silk and my 1800. I
found that by attaching 2" extensions to the paper, using removable
clear tape on the back, and creating a custom paper size (to keep the
image centered on the paper) solved the problem. The issue appears to
be with the transition of the paper feed rollers from 'front and rear'
to 'front' only. Although this is not an elegant solution, it does
work for me. My challenge has been keeping the face of the paper
spotlessly clean while taping on the extensions, where even a tiny
dust mote can ruin a print.
