Printing UT7 Prints with EPSON 2200 and Adobe CS

Printing UT7 Prints with EPSON 2200 and Adobe CS

2008-04-26 by rigglord

I have followed Paul's workflow instructions, I believe to the letter
using the 7 ink MIS workflow and the net result is no image is
printed. Can someone point me to a thread or walk me through what I
may be doing wrong?

I am using the Entrada Rag Natural 300 5x7 to do the tests in.

My current workflow as I understand it is thus,

Black and white images scanned in with a rgb colorspace, adobe 1998.
Image is converted to gray 8 bit and saved.
Image reopened and converted to adobe rgb with adobe 1998 color space.
Paul curves are loaded and I used UT&-2200-Photorag-Carbon-1.acv.
Image almost goes completely CYAN
Print screen is set to Color Management document profile Adobe rgb
1998
Color handle to Photoshop manages colors Printer profile is adobe rgb
1998

Epson dialog comes up

Enchance Matte paper is picked

Photo 0-1440 dpi is picked

Size 5x7

Color management is ICM
No Color adjustment is selected

(just to save time, I have also tried with the color controls on,
gamma at 1.8 and the with the color mode set at standard and adusted
the Cyan and Magenta for neutral tones based on this article
http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/UT-2200-Readme.htm)

End result,,,, Nada, zip, nothing not even a faint image.

Anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for any help.

FYI, I printed with Epson Matte black BO only and I get a print.
Do you think its a problem with the MIS cartridges?

Be sure the tabs on the cartridge air intakes have been removed.

Do a nozzle check. Be sure ink is flowing. Until you have ink flow
and a perfect nozzle check, the rest of the workflow is moot.

Tabs on the air intakes? All see is the site where it couples with the
printer, the same as the Original Epson site and on top what looks like
a place where you can inject new ink for refills. Under the silver
pull tape there is nothing.

On top of the MIS cartridges there is an air inlet. A usually yellow
tape covers it and then has an easy to pull end that hangs down the
side of the cart that you have to pull off before installing the cart.
Epson no longer uses this system.

At any rate be sure ink is flowing. You need perfect nozzle checks.

Thanks Paul,

I deeply appreciate you responding to me. I got really excited when I
saw your articles and I am so eager to get my operation up and running.

Again thank you

Ricky
