Hi Paul,

Hope you don't mind me asking a rather subjective question about the
Epson 1800 new 3PK setup for gloss prints. I'm a Epson 3800 ABW & QTR
user and have been mostly happy w/ the output, but I'm always
wondering, OK, what next...? I'm pretty curious about this Epson 1800
3pk setup for gloss prints. I read your article and it sounds like it
makes great outout except for perhaps, a bit less smoothness in the
midtones (?) -- at least the ink patterns I saw. I'm a small user of
matte papers because I typically like a bit more punch -- although the
gloss differential is still annoying as compared to darkroom prints.
And I like the idea of 100% carbon based inks but thats not enough...
What are thoughts, if you don't mind, on prints made on your 4800 K3
setup as opposed to the Epson 1800 gloss ink setup. Is there in your
opinion, and I hope its OK to ask, a discernable improvement in the
quality of the print?

Thanks much!
Steve

Carl Schofield is the person who will be better able to answer this
question. I've done very little with the 3PK approach. I'm doing
mostly 3MK with the 1800, and will probably put a little more effort
in the 3MK+PK+Glop workflow when I have some time.
