Carbon-6 & 2400 or other K3 printer

Carbon-6 & 2400 or other K3 printer

I've found that the original C-6 formula has a problem with the gray
substitution in the 2400, and presumeably other K3 printers. To avoid
posterization with the Epson driver in the deep shadows, a modified
formula is needed. C = 30% Eboni and LK = 18% Eboni does the trick.
The other positions are unchanged.

By the way, one obviously cannot have 2 inks of the same density in QTR
as "gray" inks and expect the semi-automatic paritioning algorithm to
deal with it. I've found, however, with printers that have large
numbers of inks that one is better off with multiple partitioning
sequences. That is, rather than have 8 gray inks, set up 2 separate
profiles of different combinations of them (or, I suppose, having some
called a "Toner" would work). In an initial test on my 2200, I made 2
profiles with 4 inks each (including the black in both). I then
printed with both profiles at 50%, and it resulted in a smoother print
than a single 7-gray-ink profile.

Ah.. that is actually a nice simple trick. I'm currently focus on
getting my new 3800 back from repair and get it up and running with the
CIS. But once that is done, I will try to get my idle R220 set up with
C6. I'm sure this trick will come in handy.
