Epson R285

2008-10-04 by sk533699

Hello,
I am about to get into Black & White printing.
I do have an Epson R285, as far as I know, it is called R290 in the USA.
At the moment I am using Lyson paper for colour prints.
I am wondering which inkset is the best for my printer. Is it the UT
RC ink or shall I go for the UT 3D, which is recommended by inksupply.
Since the printer I am using is the „small" brother of the 1400, I am
curios to know if I can also use the new inkset UT14.
I also considering BO printing. Has anybody experience with this approach?
Regards
Sven

The UT14 will probably work, but I have not tried it on that printer or
the US version.

Black only works quite well with the 1400 and MIS Eboni.

Paul
thanks for the quick answer. I think I will give it a go and try the UT14.
I am using MIS UltraPro. Can I just switch from B/W to coulour or do I
have to run a proper cleaning cycle an flush the printheads.
Regards
Sven

I believe the MIS UT B&W and UltraPro color pigments are compatible.
There will be residual colors that will take a little while to get out,
but printing a few purge pattern probably wastes less ink.

Hi Paul,
thanks for your advice.
I will keep you posted if the UT14 works on the R285.
