Advise for Newbie from down under

2008-10-29 by click_head46

Hi all
Just new to the group have sold my wet darkroom and converted to
digital I am really interested in B&W prnting using the MIS carts I
wish to use MIS carts in an EPSON R210 What I am trying to find out is
the r210 the same as the US R200 or 220. I have read some where that
they are same only the US model is a 120volt version of R210 which runs
on 240 volts. Anyone from down under using a similar system. Thanks for
now

Peter

I have a 220, yes, I've heard the only difference between the 210 and
the 200 or 220 is the voltage. But others more knowledgeable may jump in
here. Whatever - I use MIS Eboni ink in the black position and
cleaning carts in the other five. I couldn't be happier with the
results. Beautiful blacks and a full range of grays. The simplicity
of the setup is a real plus. I think you'll be pleased!

Hi Paul
Thanks for your reply as I am only new to this modifying printers I
will probably ask a lot of dumb questions. I was rely intriqued as to
why you would use 5 cleaning cartridges, is it due to the ease of
refilling or is it a cost saving as compared to buying ready filled
carts.

I suspect putting Carbon-6 -- http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Ink-
Mixing.pdf -- in those 5 spots would be as effective, cheaper if you're
not making your own cleaning solution, and a lot more fun. I don't
believe I've ever had a clog with these dilute inks, no matter how long
they've sat un-used.

Peter: I was using cleaning fluid because it's less expensive than
color, and it's my understanding that those carts use a little ink at
startup. Figured this was cheaper than color ink plus I get a little
extra cleaning job each time I use the printer.

Paul, I have read your Carbon-6 document and I may try that sometime.
Thanks for the reminder.

Paul W.
