MOAB Moenkopi papers

MOAB Moenkopi papers

2008-12-09 by AnnMarie

Hi all -

I went to PDN's Photo Trade Show at the Javitz in NYC last month and Legion introduced 3
new MOAB papers. The Moenkopi line, made at the Awagami factory is all handmade. They
are mulberry papers and the Unryu is thin and "delicate" like a "rice" paper. It comes with a
support sheet so you can run it through your printer normally. My test came out beautifully. I
attached the tops and bottoms to wooden dowels to further enhance the Japanese feel. Then
there is Kozo and Bizan. I haven't used either yet but the Bizan has a beautiful deckled edge
on all four sides. That paper costs $15 a sheet of 8.5 x 11!! I am waiting for that one special
image to test it on (the Legion rep gave me a sample pack that only includes one sheet of
each). The Kozo paper is a hot press paper. They are all beautiful and I thought I'd share it
with the real arty photographers here that have been looking for something like this for some
time now. If anyone does, I would love for them to share their thoughts with me :)

Re: [Digital BW] MOAB Moenkopi papers

Hi Ann:

Thank you for the report. Another idea would be to purchase paper at
an art store and use InkAID to coat it yourself. The cost per page
will be significantly lower.

I saw many samples at the Javits Center show done this way, and they
were beautiful. Their website is http://www.inkaid1.com

Their Clear Semi Gloss Precoat is the one I'd recommend if you want
it to look invisible.

All the best,

Andrew
