Does my D300 have a glitch?

Does my D300 have a glitch?

2009-04-19 by bob4canaan

I am unable to have raw files open automatically in raw format when downloaded from my d300 camera. My working system consists of: Windows XP, Photoshop CS3 with camera raw_5_3, dng converter5_2. The files do not open automatically with or without conversion to dng. I have no problems with my d70 raw camera files opening directly with the above system. Is this a problem with the camera, or something else? Would appreciate some help.

Do you have any Nikon raw software installed...I seem to remember a conflict when Nikon software is installed.

I have not installed any additional programs except what I have stated. In addition the d70 files seem to work as expected.

Bob,
Was this working before and now is not? Also, on the Adobe site this line is in there:

Supported cameras for Camera Raw 5 and Lightroom 2

Support for the following cameras is included in Camera Raw 5 and Lightroom 2. Camera Raw 5 and later is not compatible with Photoshop CS3.

This may be the issue.

Ed

I did see the statement you are alluding to in the Adobe downloads site, but I think reinstalling the original disk might have taken care of that possible problem. Also what is troubling is that the problem exists with my d300 but not with my d70.

 Thanks,

Bob

Bob,
I have a similar situation with my Sony DSC-R1. I shoot in raw, but when I upload to my computer with automatic delete from my camera, I find that I have uploaded only JPEG files. A check on my camera shows no files left on the card. However, I discovered by accident that if I connect to the computer again and run through the upload procedure a second time, this time the raw files show up. I have no explanation for this, but you may want to try uploading twice and seeing if this same happens with your D300.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
