Epson 1400 MIS Cart problem

Epson 1400 MIS Cart problem

2009-05-24 by scalesnyt

I recently replaced the K Eboni ink catridge in an epson 1400 with the Eboni 6 inkset. The black was the only cart that was empty. But now the computer says all of the other carts are empty, or just not there.

It has been suggested that this is a chip mismatch. I have another E6 cart I just got at the same time, should I try the other Black cart? I hate to just unseal another one if that will not possible help.

Do the carts all have to changed together? Good grief, that would be a drag.

Can't call MIS until Tuesday.

Can't you just use a jeweler's screwdriver to pry the chip off of one black cart and pop it onto the other? That should save you having to unseal a new cart.

Would this be possible with the chip on the empty cart? It did work quite well for all 10 prints. Or should it be off the extra new one? I am new at this printer and custom ink thing.

I think you'll find the auto-reset chips are on holders that slide out sideways and are fairly easily interchangeable without the need for any tools or a resetter. So, of the one on the empty cart worked or you have one on a new cart, just swap the defective one for one that (hopefully) works.

>Chip swap is easy and usually solves the problem - be careful not to let these carts run out completely before refilling/resetting - you can also take a chip from the right color OEM cart if you have one around
