Replacement Printer

Replacement Printer

2009-05-23 by Mike Kirwan

Well my trusty Epson R1800 has finally bit the dust. I plain wore the beast
out and it died in the middle of printing my new work for an upcoming show.
To make matters worse I just bought a complete set of inks.

So my dilemma, for the replacement, should I go with the Epson 1400, the
1900 or go for bust on the 2880 (tad outside my budget)?

I primarily print on Matt papers predominantly black & white with the
occasional color. For black & white I print using QTR and love the results.

Any suggestions from the gurus on this forum of which printer to invest in?

Thanks

Mike

Mike,

Something to keep in mind, Epson has some pretty good rebates going thru May 31. I just ordered a 3800 from Atlex for $1149 plus $100 of Epson "professional media." For this Epson is offering a $300 rebate bring the whole thing down to $950 for the printer and paper. The shipping was free.

Can't offer any advice on the other models as I am still running my 2400.

Best,
Martin
