Epson 2200 black only

When printing BO does the 2200 use the light black. Can I use Ebony diluted 50% to get close to the same thing.

Dennis, once (only) I found that BO produced banding, and I had to switch to greyscale. Otherwise BO works great for me with the 2200, in spite of Epson's warning to the contrary.

I don't have any banding problems, I don't have any problems at all currently. I already check greyscale and black ink only. I just wanted to know if it used light black when printing BO. I'm switching to ebony and was wondering if I needed to dilute ebony for the light black position.

No, I don't think it does.

LK is about 30% PK. If you want to use a dilute Eboni, try 18% Eboni. The density graphs are not totally parallel for Eboni 18% and LK. So, QTR profiles that are based on LK may need re-linearizing (at least) if 18% Eboni is used instead of LK.

The dilute Eboni will not, of course, be glossy compatible, and it will be slightly more neutral than LK.

I dillute Eboni with what I call C6 base. See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Ink-Mixing.pdf

I've been using this Eboni mix as well as MIS's Eboni-6 for a couple of years now. I can't tell any significant difference aside from the fact that the generic C6 base is more compatible with other inks.

The C6 base does not have any bioside in it. I have never seen any difference, but I've heard of one report that suggests there can be biological activity in it. I'm experimenting with copper ions in the water as a biocide. But, as of now, I'm just using the current C6 base with none of this.
