Just thought I'd pass this along in case anyone else was going to try. I bought a pack of Brilliant museum satin natural from Calumet. Surface has a bit of texture, more than a smooth matte paper. With MIS PKN I got density reading of 1.42 with printfixpro. With MIS Eboni - 1.5 but rubs off.

Atlex has a sale of Epson exhibition fibre. I don't see many comments on this list on it. Is it any good? Bob [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

It's objectively good, good gamut, good dmax, etc.. We knew from many little birdies when it first came out that it was rebranded Innova FibaPrint Ultra Smooth Gloss, made for Epson on a slightly thicker base. Since many of us had actually done a lot of testing on that paper previoulsy, the introduction of the Epson version did not creata much new additional buzz or user reviews. So you might search the various lists for comments on the Innova. Obviously it is a PK paper, and will require an ink set up that works well on gloss, however that is done- UCK3pk, HP, perhaps the Claria inks, etc.. for 3rd party mono inks others here would have to comment. When I made cheap sample sets on a Selenium MPS K7 set for people to see, one of the two papers was the Innova version, and I thought it worked well, the high OBA level tamed back the rosy ink hue a bit, and the surface was nice. I made color profiles of both the Epson, and the Innova, and they really were identical in technical performance and appearance, within instrument margin of error. Subjectively, for me, other than the nice combo with the Selenium MPS set, it was generally too blue, with an obvious high OBA content, for my taste. In every other way though, it performs extremely well, and has a likable photo surface. Hi gang, Usually a lurker here, but I thought I would throw in my 2 cents. I do B&W and B&W with a warm split tone effect. I tried Ilford Gold Silk and was very pleased with everything about the paper. It had a great dmax, excellent surface and "felt" like a silver print in the hand. All pluses in my book. My only complaint was that the split tone effect wasn't as obvious as I would have liked. I chalked it up to profiling and tweaking on my part. But at over $3 a sheet (13x19) I wasn't thrilled with doing too much experimenting. Then a friend showed me examples that he had done with many of the major FB papers. I was struck at how warm the base was with Gold Silk and noticed that the Epson Exhibition Fiber had a more neutral base. I also liked the finish better. Looked even more like an air dried silver print. The problem was the price. Epson's paper is even more expensive than the Ilford. So, when Atlex offered this sale I stocked up. I would like to see Epson put this stock out in rolls, though. Otherwise I think it's a great paper. Hal Gage

In the meantime, you could just get rolls of this- http://www.shadesofpaper.com/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=154 which is exactly the same, and possibly easier to handle from rolls due to being a bit thinner. Even this, I have to say, was not easy to deal with from rolls, it's very "hard". Tyler

Yea, I've used the Innova Ultrasmooth Gloss in roll form since it first came out. And also the Innova Semi Matte that I like better. If this material was any thicker on rolls the curl would be impossible to deal with and flattening the prints would be a killer. 3rd reason not to have it thicker in rolls is that it would scratch in most printers from the curl. The very thick gloss sheets can work in situations where rolls never would. Not only that, its plenty thick enough the way it is. I would just buy a roll of the Innova from Shades Of Paper like Tyler suggested. This stuff will flatten out well in a dry mount press if you ever wanted to cut down rolls into varied sized sheets. I did that last year a lot. These Innova fiber gloss papers work very well for black and white and critical color work. john --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "tboleyyh" <tyler@...> wrote:
