OT: Mid 2000's printer for b&w?

2009-11-21 by Iric S

That's the year, not cost, LOL! I asked this question elsewhere and didn't get helpful answers, so I thought that I would ask on this forum. Can anyone recommend some of the mid 2000s printers for B&W printing. I like my Canon IP8500 for color work, but I do not know if there are alternatives for B&W that I should be keeping my eyes open for. I think that there are people here who have moved up in printers who have fond memories of older printers. Not that they would move back, of course, but knowing what those printers are would be of interest to me. I never know what I will find some day, lol.

Thanks.

MIS Associates and Inkjetmall have a number of inksets for older Epson printers. I've listed the MIS inksets I've been involved with at http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/ Scroll down the page and there will be a list by printer and by inkset.

The 100% carbon inksets I now use, discussed at the top of the page, above, will run on most Epson printers, but aside from those I've used, you'll have to do your own profiling. With QTR it's easy.

The third party dedicated B&W inksets are mostly for Epson printers. HP is making inroads with it's Vivera pigments, however.

Good luck in your search.
