Shelf life of ink cart or should I bother?

Shelf life of ink cart or should I bother?

2010-01-10 by Lew Schwartz

I have a set of unopened Epson ink carts for my 2200, they've been
sitting on my shelf for about a year or more. Vacuum packs look
intact. Can I go ahead and use them .... or another question ...
should I bother with them at all? I intend to do b & w exclusively.
Should I start with another ink set altogether?

one person's experience: for several years i used a 2200 with stock Epson inks mainly for b/w. routinely used carts up to a year past the 'use by' date on the box and never had issues.

another tip. if you're going to have these carts sitting around a long time, store them standing right side up. dunno if it matters, but i read that somewhere (probably here) a long time ago. i did it, and perhaps it helped keep everything all settled and proper.

Be sure to agitate the carts well before using them. Epson pigments also settle.
