Version six has over 400 improvements over 5. It is well worth the
upgrade price. You'll love it.

Soon as you get it, be sure to upgrade to 6.01.

Like Jerry says, PS6.01 has many improvements, and if you can, upgrade
now.

Single biggest reason: PS6 color management (working spaces, profiles,
etc.) is much improved and *much* easier to understand. Many beginners
have trouble getting their arms around this stuff, and getting it right
from the start can save you much grief -- yes, even for b&w printing.

good luck,

I'd get Photoshop 6 just for the Print Options - to precisely place
an image on paper.

BUT....Photoshop 7 should be out within a month or so...so you
might want to wait a little bit.
