Bizarre ghost on Epson 3800

Bizarre ghost on Epson 3800

2010-03-24 by David Kachel

I am running some test prints with my new Epson 3800 (new to me).
I work in B&W but with a heavy brown tone, so lots of red and yellow ink gets used.

All of the tests I have run have a very faint yellow "shadow" beginning at the edge of the image area on the leading and right hand edges of the prints and extending about 1/4 inch in both directions.

The image area itself looks just fine and there is no corresponding lack of color within any of the print borders.

I have tried this with about 10 varieties of paper (as I said, I am running tests) and the same thing happens on all brands and flavors.

Any ideas?

Does the 3800 have the highlight shift option in the driver? If so, make sure it is not checked.

Try hanging a garland of garlic bulbs on the front of the printer. Not sure what to suggest other than to reboot the printer to the mothership. This doesn't sound normal for a new printer. Call Epson ASAP.

Thanks a lot pal! Not only did that not work, but now I have a bunch of werewolves hanging around my house.

David,

Reminds me of the Claude Rains lines in the 1941 version of 'The Wolfman':

Even a man who is pure in heart,
And says his prayers by night,
May become a wolf when the wolf bane blooms,
And the autumn moon is bright!

Did you use genuine Romanian garlic? It could work!

No, I think this is cheap aftermarket garlic.
