Hi there sfrules, I admit that I used the a-word in my quantizer-idea, but only to make it clear that the output of a quantizer doesn't have to be limited to scales, but that even *arpeggio-like* patterns should be possivble, and even patterns spanning more than one octave. Florian and Joosts postings about an arpeggio-generator are quite a different cup of tea, because a *classic* arpeggio is derived from a chord (a few different voltages/midi values at the same time) and a ... well .. *pseudo-arpeggio* (?) from a quantizer would be derived from one single (monophonic?) dynamic voltage. That's quite different. Personally I like both ideas.
