Guido, we have a special information page about vactrols: http://www.doepfer.de/a100_man/Vactrol.htm In general vatrols are very slow (compared to other elements like transistors, transistors or diodes) but there are minor differences due to the basic material used in the photo-sensitive layer of the light-depending resistor in the LED/LDR combination. The main advantage of vactrols is their linear behaviour (like a resistor, no distortion).
