Its usually not interesting to modify timebased (=LFO/Env) the 
waveshaper itself, but to use a signal that comes already with 
modifications. Example:

Do NOT use this:
          Env------+
           |       |
VCO->Waveshaper->VCA

Simply use instead:
      Env
       |
VCO->VCA->Waveshaper

third most important rule:
For waveshapers use dark sounds, bright sounds do not win that much buy 
a waveshaper.
Classic is either a triangle VCO through a VCA or a "dark" lowpassfilter 
with very high resonance

      Env
       |
VCO->VCF->Waveshaper->VCA

or

      Env
       |
VCO->VCF->VCA->Waveshaper
