hello michael i would recomend you many different oscillators for nice colorful sound. polyphony can be realized in different ways. easy : just tune 2 or 3 oscs to a nice chord and use a single cv gate signal to play it. this way you cant change the chord... difficult : use an analog sequencer (or many sequencers) to play several oscs at different pitches to form a chord. this might be difficult to get going but can be very rewarding cause very nice poly sequences will come up. filter are never enough for my taste, i use them as oscilators as well ...from the doepfer collection there is not one that i wouldnt like im sure !
