I understand not wanting to step on anyone's toes and let's not forget that Don Buchla 
is a pretty important figure in synthesizer history.  That being said, I certainly think 
that completing the 149/3 should be done, as the research has gone into it and many 
users invested in the other modules. Personally I would feel a little let down.

I think that in terms of the 259 VCO, maybe taking a different approach to the design, 
adding new features or something might make it more Doepfer. Duel Osc with 
morphing waveforms and built in harmonic distortion. 

Don Buchla has always made the mistake of not meeting musicians realities with his 
work. As good as his designs can be most working musicians cannot afford a $19,000 
synthesizer and those who can may not be the kind of artists he hopes to reach.

Bob Moog has managed to keep the musicians happy and stay true to his vision. 

Doepfer products have managed to meet the needs of all of us without substituting 
quality. Sure, no colorful designs with disco lights and vintage bakalite knobs but they 
sound good, the work good and they keep evolving.  I choose Doepfer, not because I 
have to but because I want to.
