Jonathan, I don't have access to any of the modules you're referring too, but in general -- assuming they've been powered backwards, the first things to go are the electrolytic (or tantalum) caps near the power connector. Burn markings are most likely coming from those caps which

Thanks for your help again Bakis Wherever I put the offset knob I can only ever get 4V from that point (e.g. offset set to -2V, 4V in I get a range of -2 to +2V out. Offset set to -4V, 4V in I get a range of -4 to 0 volts out). This is with att. set to fully clockwise (10 on the

hi Rich, first of all: offset knob at '1' position (the 1 according to the scale that is marked on the module front panel) should give you -4 volts offset, not 0volts. now, the a183-2 module should give x2 amplification, according to specs... Dieter? Bakis Sirros - Parallel World

the A183-2 is an attenuator/polarizer and offset generator.(and a x2 amplifier) so, you say you want to make a +4volts input into a +4 to -4volts output, right? so: you have set the JP3 jumper as dieter says (and now the offset knob gives you -5 to +5 volts offset), and have you

Hi Bakis Like you say, I was expecting the attenuator knob to give me 0 to 2x amplification, but it gives only 0 to 1x. With offset at around 1 o'clock position (0V offset), +4V in, switch in attenuator mode and att. knob at 10 I get +v4V out. Rich --- In Doepfer_a100@yahoogroups
