Excuse my ignorance here as I'm sure it's been said before. When I purchase a BBD module will I be able to swap different BBD chips, i.e. are the chips pin compatible? Yesterday we received the second batch of BBD circuits with 4096 stages. We tested them immediately (Florian, thank's for the note concerning the problems of other BBD buyers) and found that they do not contain a 4096 stages BBD but only 1024 stages ! Obviously the circuits have been relabelled and contain probably the very much cheaper MN3207 or BL3207 with 1024 stages only. I've heard about such relabelling for computer chips but was not aware that it happens for BBD circuits as well. Anyway - this will cause problems with A-188-1D (4096 stages version). If you have already ordered you are not affected as we had 100% testet 4096 stages BBDs in stock and still have about 25 of them left. But if these are used up we cannot deliver A-188-1D unless we find "real" MN3205 or MN3005. And probably we will have to increase the price for the A-188-1D as I assume that we will have to pay much more than for the first batch. If someone wants to order BBD circuits that are offered in the internet (e.g. at ebay or from far east suppliers) be careful that you will get the real parts !
