Splitting a gate signal...

Splitting a gate signal...

2006-06-29 by slickie48

Hi I would like to make use of the Reset in on my 145 LFO by putting a gate into it.
However this same gate must also drive the Envelope Generator 140. So I tried to use
my multiple and send the gate signal to both the ENV GEN and the RESET IN of the
LFO but it doesnt work. However sending the gate straight into the RESET IN works
great. Can you not split a gate signal using a multiple? Or is a multiple just for CV. If
so how can I split a gate signal?

BTW the gate signal is coming from a kenton pro solo. I have a simple sequenced
midi loop running on ableton live and going out of an audio interface midi out into
the pro solo and then the pro solo sends out the gate and CV.

thanks all

Normally a multiple should do the job. Maybe the output impedance of the
Kenton is too high and is not able to drive two parallel loads. Even a small
gate voltage could be the reason (at least +5V recommended, for multiple
loads a higher voltage will be better because of the loads that may lower
the gate voltage). In any case an A-185 (or A-165 + A-180) should solve the
problem.

I have a loom comming out of the back of my kenton pro2000 and to a
faceplate on my modular ( http://port23.co.uk/kenton.jpg ) I have two
outputs for the Gates and the CVs from each channel (effectivly just a
multiple) and ive never had any issues. This is, however, a different
kenton unit from that of which you are using.

Latest news A-188-1 / A-191

2006-06-29 by hardware@doepfer.de

The third batch of A-188-1 arrived yesterday (modified version with jumpers
for alle types of MN30xx/MN32xx). We also have all types of BBD circuits
(128 ... 4096 stages) in stock at the moment and are now able to deliver all
ordered A-188-1 modules.

The A-191 are now sold out (was marked as a discontinued module since many
months).

Best wishes

FWIW, I've seen this problem patching clock out from my doepfer a190
through a mult. If you buffer the signal you're having trouble with
(either via an asys buffered mult, using a bus access module, or running
it through a channel on the gate delay module) you should be able to get
up and running again.
