Roland Sh-101 and Doepfer VCO sync

Roland Sh-101 and Doepfer VCO sync

2006-07-22 by beatboxgestapo

Hello,

Does anyone have any ideas about the best way to sync the VCO of a
Roland Sh-101 to the two A-110 VCOs of a Doepfer system?
Any input is much appreciated.

Thank you,

This would require a hardware modification of the SH-101. I'd recommend this
only for users who are experienced with electronics and soldering. You have
to get the SH-101 schematics and find out the solder point of the SH-101
that has available the rectangle output of the VCO, and add a buffer and a
socket to your SH-101.

Best wishes

If I understand you right this is the description of a SH-101 as Sync
Master! This would be also possible with the plain line out of the
SH-101 (Osc to narrow pulse, no subosc, Cutoff 100%) and a A-119 (or
assumingly any buffer like module like A167,A175,...).

But as I understand the original poster asked for using the SH-101 as
Sync-Slave. This would really require modifying the SH-101.

Hi Florian,

yes that's possible on principle. But in this case the sync will work only
as long as a tone appears at the SH-101 audio output (i.e. as long as e.g. a
key is held down on the keyboard and the VCF, VCA and ADSR controls are set
to suitable values). As far as know the SH-101 has no offset control for the
final VCA to open the VCA but only an ADSR or gate mode for the VCA. I can't
remember if the 101 has a hold function that could be used instead of that.

Best wishes

The SH101 has a hold function (without that the arpeggiator would be
worth only the half).
