Current status of CV/gate keyboard?

Current status of CV/gate keyboard?

2006-10-26 by travesty14850

I've got a little Roland PCR-M1 for my laptop, but the pitchbend is
garbage...I've been using this to control my new modular! Forgive me
if this is an oft-mentioned topic on this forum, but what's the status
of the CV/gate keyboard? Has it been decided how many octaves there
will be? And will it have pitchbend and mod wheels? If it's not
gonna happen, I'll go get an Axiohm or something and use MIDI...

Thanks!

The A-100 CV/Gate keyboard will be manufactured with 4 octaves. At the
moment our case manufacturer is about to built a prototype of the case. The
CV/Gate keyboard will be not equipped with additional controllers but an
external box with a case that fits to the case of the keyboard is under
development (i.e. same height and depth and prepared for mounting the
devices together). It will probably include 2-3 wheels, one joystick and
some buttons. So far I have no release dates as we have to wait for the case
prototype. Unfortunatel the case manufacturer is very busy at the moment.
They have our drawings since summer but had no time so far to built the case
prototype case.

Best wishes

Thanks for the update, Dieter! It sounds like the new keyboard is
larger than I need--I do have a good 61-key synth keyboard (Ensoniq
SQ80) I can use, but it's across the room, and I can't tweak knobs
while playing.

Let me ask this of anyone on the board--is there, anywhere out there,
a simple, desktop-sized (three octaves) MIDI controller with pich/mod
wheels and weighted keys? The Axiom is closest to what I'd like, but
it's 25 keys and has a lot of unnecessary bells and whistles. And the
less-well-equipped keyboards are rather cheap-feeling. It's tempting
to try to build something nice...but more DIY is the last thing I need
right now.

What compact controllers do you all use?

Hmm...maybe I should buy a cheapo Korg K49 and pimp it out with wood...
