A-185 Question

A-185 Question

2007-01-15 by axiombass

Hi all,
I have to replace my existing 3U case with a 6U. Since I'll add
another oscillator (now I have two A-110) should I buy an A-185 module
in order to prevent signal losses?

thank you,
Luca

Signal loss or not - with three VCOs it's going to save you a lot of
patching. And it would free up a multiple for other purposes...

If you run more than 2 VCOs with one common CV the A-185 is recommended.

So doesn't matters if I split my VCO modules between lower and upper
floor of a G6 case?

Thank you,
Luca

You have to get the internal bus jumper cable if you don't already have
one to get the CV on more than one row.

It does not matter if the VCOs are in the same or in different rows. It is
essential if the same CV is used for all VCOs.
If you want to use an A-185 and the VCOs are in different rows (i.e.
different bus boards) you need a cable that connects the CV and Gate lines
of both bus boards (CV/Gate cable, available as spare part). The ends of
this cable are equipped with jumpers that are connected to the corresponding
pin headers of the two bus boards.

now I'll have to place my order to my supplier. since I already own a
3U case full with modules including an A-190 and two A-110, how many
A-185 I should buy in order to work with both cases?

thank you,
Luca

It depends if and how many additional VCOs are planned for the additional
system. If no additional VCOs are planned no A-185 is necessary. If
additional VCOs are planned I'd recommend one A-185 that is positioned on
the same bus as the VCOs. The A-185 inputs (CV, Gate) are connected to the
corresponding A-190 outputs of the existing 3U case.
