Re: [Doepfer_a100] Re: bass sequences, setup for beginners

I would go for a second VCO bfore getting the sampler, as that would be useful for a lot of traditional synth sounds, and I'd also consider getting an A-115 Audio Divider for the basslines - only problem is that with a sequencer in a G6 frame most of the other modules are quite essential. Perhaps the multimode filter could be sacrificed, which would make room for an 8HP module and a 4HP module, but I kind of like the 12db/octave response of the multimode filter. Depending on your needs, the noise/random voltages module may not be all that essential, but it's still also very nice to have. Or you might want to lose one of the LFO's 4HP modules that may be interesting are the ring mod, the voltage inverter and the dual VCA - or an extra multiple, but I'm not sure you'll need that one. The Midi interface could be replaced by an external midi/CV converter, say, the MCV4 - if you need sync you can record a sequence of 1/4th notes and use the gate signal for sync, or get an MSY2 if sync is all you need midi for. The MCV4 is the most versatile of those options, however, as it will allow you to record other patterns than 4/4 straight notes for more interesting rhythms in your sequences. If neither money nor portability are a concern to you, consider getting a three row system, or possibly even a four row one, as that would leave a lot more room for other nice modules.
