Another Quantizer Question - Setting the Offset

Another Quantizer Question - Setting the Offset

2007-11-24 by stuadh

Hi,

my quantizers are out of tune with each other and with my MIDI-CV
Converter. The converter tracks exactly 1V/Oct but I can't get the
Quantizers to read 0V when playing the lowest note. You have told me
already how to adjust the scale on this forum, but after further
investigation, I now need to adjust the offset, too. I have tried
adjusting each of the other three trims in turn, but to no avail. The
first quantizer reads -7.4 mV on the lowest key.

Yours Aye

In addition, I've just realised that the note cross-overs on both
modules are wrong. For example, when set to Maj Chord, with no
transpose, the 156 doesn't switch to G (on an ascending scale) until
you play A.

How do you set up the Quantizer?

The quantizer has no offset adjustment. An offset of 7mV is less than 1/10
semitone and could be compensated if necessary very easily by the (fine)
tune control of the VCO controlled by the A-156. If you need an offset of
less than 7mV a trimming potentiometer and resistor has to be added. But so
far (the A-156 is available since 1998) nobody complained the offset.

Best wishes

Therefore the A-156 has to be readjusted. We have the A-156 adjustment is
available as a pdf file but only in German language so far. I can send it
to you if you want.

Best wishes
