You've seen this page? - http://www.doepfer.de/A100CGK.htm - scroll to the bottom and you will see exactly what you want. I doubt you will find a solution cheaper than the proposed price of the OEM kit. The only other solution is a cheap MIDI controller (I got a roland one built for PCs for $25 used) and a MIDI>CV converter (the modular Doepfer A-190 or an external one) and come in cheaper. Not a cool looking as the one shown under the suitcase. Dieter - How about a road case version of the 3-octave one shown under the P-cases? Since the P-cases are meant to be portable, why not the keyboard too (I know, it's the cost). -James

Alternatively seek out an cheap old synth with CV gate output. I know that even a Roland SH101 or SH09 can be expensive when view as just a keyboard but you also get the synth as well. Lesser desirable makers are worth checking out like Teisco as they fall under the collectors radar. But the cases will be very expensive as they have to be made as custom single-unit production. I don't think that we will sell many of these cases. But as a special design we could offer it. At the moment we try to find a solution to built the A-100CGK (probably the 5 octaves version, maybe together the A-198 ribbon controller) into the top cover of the A-100 monster base. But I can not yet confirm that it will work. Best wishes Dieter Doepfer

I had imagined that it would cost a bunch. I have a couple of Anvil Case briefcases laying around (they used to sell them as promo items) and I could try to build a keyboard into one of them. I used to go to pawn shops and look for old instrument cases and build electronics into them. Sometimes you can find a old wooden instrument case that is just the right dimensions to do the job. I had good success with old clarinet and tenor saxophone cases - just the right size for small projects after you ripped out the insides. -James

I just had another idea that may offer a more elegant solution. You could look into a variation of the P-cases with a deeper lid with the keyboard built in already, or just sell a Keyboard Lid as a separate piece. It could be designed so that the P-case could sit on top of the back half - I'm at work now so can't measure it to see how small the space left for the keys would be - maybe it could work. It make the P-case like a Synthi AKS, especially if a Touch Keyboard was used (which would probably fit in the current lids without much redesign). just an Idea. -James
