This is the same experience I have.

I always get quick and helpful replies from Dieter regarding hardware and
various questions, even if they are quick one-liner replies that is all I
need...

Dieter also seemed open to releasing the source code for the 'werk' boxes
and was kind enough to send me some of the hardware docs for the Schaltwerk.
It seems that Chris doesn't feel the same about opening the OS source code
though, and I have sent several messages that went unanswered over the
*years* (I did get replies sometimes).

As for the off-topic question, I go by whatever the moderator of the group
says :)

If the schaltwerk is fair game I will post more often (I don't own an a100).

For those interested there is a Yahoo group specificly for the Schaltwerk,
although it sees about as much activity as the Doepfer forum... but you
don't get fifty popup advertisemnet windows when you check in!! eheheh

Anyways, I will continue working on the Hackwerk OS, but it will take
*awhile* to get something usable... There are several limitations with the
hardware I need to find some workaround for, and without the source code I
need to reinvent some the basic functionality before moving on to new
features.

cheers
ripe

My 2 cents :

The real problem is not to know if the schaltwerk subject is offtopic or
not : the _real_ problem is Doepfer attitude about that gear and users
that bought it !
I understand that Doepfer have no time to upgrade the schaltwerk software,
but they can release it as free software ("Gnu Public License" or "BSD
license" for example). If they do so, I would certainly buy such a gear !

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
