New announcement

2008-12-12 by yahoo@doepfer.de

We have added two simple modules to our list of planned modules:

A-183-1 simple passive dual attenuator
A-183-2 single offset generator/attenuator/polarizer/amplifier

The modules are planned for combination with other modules that have no
attenuators and/or offset controls available. Mainly to combine A-100
modules with modules from other manufacturers because most of the A-100
modules are already equipped with attenuator and manual control of the
parameter in question.

Details on our website: www.doepfer.com > PRODUCTS > A-100 > Future/new
modules

These are the only 4HP Doepfer modules with knobs, aren't they? Will
the knobs be normal sized?

How about a 6HP 3-channel attenuator? It could be possible, if the
jacks were in rows of two. Perhaps the ergonomics would be better
then due to more horizontal "headroom" for the knobs. (I would prefer
all knobs up and all jacks down arrangement a la Cwejman, but that is
just me.)

The 4HP attenuator will fit perfectly in my minicase alongside the
PlanB ELF modules I've got... and passive too. I'm sold :)

Re: New announcement

Hehe. If one has 4HP of space left, a 4HP unit fits better of course.

Having a knob at each 4HP, makes the knob spacing same as in A-155
sequencer... not totally un-ergonomic. Still, I would prefer a 6HP 3-
channel unit. Space usage efficiency would be the same.

Perfect also for my new minicase! The only complaint I have about it
really is that it only has 4 bus connectors, when this new upsurge of
4HP modules means it could have wider possibilities.

excellent!

will be getting the 183-2 for sure, totally what I need and in the
perfect size as well.

Question about it, on +the information page it says that by changing
an internal jumper it can provide voltages from -5 to +5 volts for the
offset control(which I plan on doing) does that jumper change have
any effect in the attenuator or will the attenuator work exactly the
same (preferable I think)?

The module is planned for normal sized knobs but they could be replaced by
smaller ones (like the knob of the A-189-1 rotary switch or the A-190-2
glide control).

I believe that there are only very few applications with more than 4 modules
in the mini case. With a special bus cable (one connector for the bus and 2
or 3 for modules the problem can be solved. We did this for one customer and
so far it's the only case I know (he wanted to install only 4 HP modules in
the mini case).

This jumper affects only the offset range (0...+5V or -5V...+5V) but not the
attenuator.

That's very interesting Dieter...

My minicase is basically a set of extra modulation modules for my Moog
Voyager, currently it will be

1 x Multiple
2 x A-183-1
1 x A-132-1 (20mA)
2 x PlanB Model 37 ELF LFO (40mA total)
1 x PlanB Model 38 ADSR + 38a Expansion (20mA)

I'd much rather get another ADSR instead of that second 183 though...
i.e. 5 powered modules.

Thanks

Steve
