Many thanks for the suggestions for 16-way cables etc. I've now got my A-174
sitting on the desk in front of my system, connected with three feet of
cable to the busboard. The vertical position of the joystick greatly
enhances the control of it, IMO. I haven't actually gotten around to doing
the same with an A-175, might get too messy.

Out of curiosity, which of the currently available modules from other
manufacturers are fully compatible with the A-100? (In terms of module size,
power requirements, signal strength, etc.) I'd be curious to see if there's
anything out there that would add to the Doepfer selection...

Thanks

Analogue Systems, Analogue Solutions, Blacet etc modules are all
compatible in terms of interfacing with each other.
However, if you want to put them in the same case you will need
something to convert the power connectors.
I have Analogue Solutions modules in my doepfer case which only
required a different ribbon cable, easy. I have Doepfer modules in
my Analogue Systems case which required an additional circiut board
to convert plugs.

I've got both Analogue Systems, Analog Solutions, Doepfer,
Blacet, Buchla (albiet modified), MOTM, Oakley and homebrew
all happily singing together. I even went ahead and made
faceplates for the Blacet stuff so it was 3RU high. To see it, go
to:

http://www.allegrobikes.com/synth.html

Once there, click on 'Son of Frankensynth' and then click the links
for the Blacet modules - you can see a close ups.

However: I am running the Blacet, Oakley, Buchla and MOTM off
a separate 15 volt bipolar supply

In as far as voltage inverters (which I am quite fond of), I have
some I made and two wonderful Blacet mixer/processors which
work really really well. Also, Tony Allgood at Oakley Sound
makes a companion module for the MOTM 410 that can me
adapted for bipolar processing of input signals - I got one of
those, too!

You CAN'T have too many voltage inverters or mixers. Doepfer
makes one as well (part of their vocorder system - forgot the
number, (sorry)) and while I've never used it, it seems very
functional as well. I believe they also make a single voltage
inverter module as well w/o any attenuation, which I really prefer
having because at that point you can process as well.

hope this helps,

P

Looks really neat. So Frankensynth did totally stay in the toomb =) Perhaps
you could sell the panel layouts to Motm and the gang so others could buy
them for their 3u synths.
