A198

A198

2015-06-04 by David Kellett

I'm having a bit of difficulty with a second hand A198. I have it set up with a very simple patch and can get the pitch to behave as I think it should however the pressure seems to need a lot of pressure to activate and also seems not to work at the end furthest from the connector in the same way as from about 10cm from the non connector end. It seems to be very hard to trigger the pressure at all from that end. Along the whole length the amount of force needed to create a pressure voltage or gate is such that you cannot wobble your finger - to create vibrato without loosing all pressure signal. Is this correct behavior?

Hey David, hope you're well! No, that doesn't sound right. I get a good vibrato / cv out of pressure. You do need to play with sensitivity a little, and the setup for pitch / position took a while too.

The new manuals should not behave that way. But the A-198 manual design has been changed 10 years ago (2005). Maybe you purchased
the old version where the pressure sensor was much less sensitive. For details please look at the FAQ page of our website -> R2M
