Module suggestions

Module suggestions

2015-06-24 by Neil Kagan

I'm hoping that the recent poll proved to people that if enough of us demonstrate interest then new modules can happen!

There are a few things that since owning my system I know I would find useful. Often these are things where I find myself recreating the patch over again and would like one module rather than five or six! Some of these are already in the pipeline or at least have been discussed by Dieter previously:

Fluctuating Random Voltages. I keep building this patch; it's so incredibly useful for 1960's style weirdness!

VC LFO with PWM. Shame this wasn't added to the 147-2 :(

Mini step sequencer. 8 hp, maybe 5 or 6 steps, with pots for voltage values.

Stereo spring reverb. Not sure how this would work but now I have a 188-2 I can see the usefulness!

Wave table oscillator (or an update to the 112. Better tracking, USB for uploading waves, a 'gate on' mode, higher sample rates.

Oscilloscope. Well, I know this won't happen but I'd love to have the functionality of my O'tool but in the doepfer styling.

118-2; with cv control over the noise colour / mix and an option on what gets used for the random output.

117-2; just an update so the manual control can go down to much slower rates

I think that's it for now :)

I would add a module that measures the rate of change in a control signal and produces another CV proportional to the rate of change.

Well one use - if you play ally of notes in succession you could open the filter automatically rather than use a mod wheel. Or if using theremin or ribbon controllers you can use the rate of hand movement to control things - for instance use a quantizer so you get stable "steps" in your playing but a VC Slew being controlled by the Rate of Change CV to respond to hand speed, that would give a more "natural" sound to a quantized continuous controler

it's not quite the same thing, but the Koma Kommander is a cool infrared dual cv motion controller, kinda similar to roland's d-beam but for modular. worth checking out.

Like said earlier in the FB group, I am all for the random fluctuating voltages module.
But only if it is going to be a stand alone module, not dependent on being permanently attached to another module.

Absolutely, would there have been a reason it would be attached to another module? For its clock maybe?
