Another joins your group!

Another joins your group!

2002-02-19 by Andreas Lindholm

Me, that is 28 year old and "collector" of interesting synths. I do try to
make some kind of music too, but I am realistic... I will never hit the
charts. Still it is a fun hobby, but perhaps it is as Kraftwerk once stated
"it's more fun to compute".

I have a custom 6u cabinet that includes standard Lfo, highend LFO, the
vocoder(not unvoiced-s module), oberheim lowpass and of course the fabulous
136 module. Anybody into soundshaping should have that one! What I miss is a
MIDI-CV converter module. I do have a regelwerk, but for strange reasons it
can't be used as a midi-cv converter. If anybody has a hack for it to do
that please tell me.

Any more swedes here on the list btw?

/Andreas for Sweden

What I do with my A100 and other gear

2002-02-20 by Andreas Lindholm

A photo... well, my synths look just like they do on the web... so no photo,
but here comes a list. Roland JD800, JD990, Roland MKS50, Kurzweil K2000rs,
a broken Syntechno TeeBee, an out of tune Roland Sh101 , Yamaha fs1r and
finally my 6u collection of A100modules.

I simply have no time to do anything with this right now, but when I had and
hopefully will have again I write some kind of melodic synth/pop/ambient
that sounds like shit. But I am improoving and since it is fun and not a
career, who cares? My main problem is that I care to much about minute
details in my sounds and tire when I am just somehere in the first 16 bars
of a song. Next time I start off on another sounds and so it goes on...
anybody know that problem?

/Andreas

hi andreas,
well i know that problem...my problem is that every
time i'm thinking of starting a new track i start to
worry if it will be good or proffesionaly
produced.....so,the solution is: don't think too much
but act!!
as for the music you make...you are saying that the
kind of music you make could be described as
shitty-melodic synth/pop/ambient?? that must be a new
category that i'm not aware of...;-)

bakis.

It certainly is a category unknown to man, and as it written by H.P.
Lovecraft in his horror stories "some, maybe most things of importance and
utter horror are unknown to man. This of course is mostly good since it
would throw mankind into panic if it were exposed". So don't expect it to
become a genre, but rather a dark and ominous secret. A friend of mine once
described a track I sent him with the floowing...

"I thought my speakers were about to explode as the booming bass sent me
reeling back, the melody was simple, but still not quite a melody. Then
another odd sound appeared that I did not understand. It wasn't
catastrophicly bad, but it was something I never expected..."

This track of course has long since been destroyed I guess.

Humor me ;)

2002-02-22 by Andreas Lindholm

You think so, bakis? Humor, when I am dead serious ;)

Well he actually wrote theese exact lines in swedish of course. Which also
reminds me that I played a piece called "Shake the disease K2k-remix" for a
music teacher I once had. He sat silent for the entire 4:06 then look almost
exhausted and calmly stated "very interesting, unusual indeed". I passed the
comosition test so I guess he didn't object to much that I had put things
back and forth thru filters and stuff ;)

What kind of things have people said about your stuff guys?

/Andreas

I regularly hear "It sounds like Jeff Beck". It always amazes me,
because I know the influence is there, but I would never have guessed
that such and such a piece would convey that to others.

Guess I've always been a lead guitar wannabee.

One piece drew the response: "It sounds like something from a porno
movie, 'Music by Spartacus'".

Wanted to lighten things up...

Re: Humor me ;)

it was a great game. canada won, but sweden gets the consolation
prize for beating canada in the first game. so don't feel so bad, you
could of been there,if it where not for that flukie goal with less
than 4 minutes to go.
cheers,
rm
