A-174 Joystick question

A-174 Joystick question

2005-03-08 by gargar1974

Hello fellow A-100 owners,

I'm thinking about getting the A-174 Joystick.
It says in the manual that you can cut the springs so that the stick
will not return to it's center position.
If I remove the springs, will the stick stay in the position I leave
it in? (for example pointing upwards in a normal doepfer suitcase
standing up?) In this case could I use it as a substitute for the A-
176 man. cv source?

/gustaf

hello gustaf,

can't tell you something about the springs in the a174 joystick,
but in any case you can use the a174 as a substitute for
the a176 manual cv source. even without removing the springs,
you can adjust the a174 outputs to deliver a voltage between
-3.5 and +3.5 volts by adjusting the front panel knobs.

best wishes

ingo

So will the joystick stick to its position after removing the springs? Or will it just hang
loose, fall to a side, or downwards?

stays in position, not that loose at all

I took the spring off first when I got the module and now I put them back in fact, which is
possible to do... but not maybe more than once or twice...

Best,

Alexandre
