A Casio through a Leslie sounds more like a B3 than a Hammond through a motionless PA speaker.

This whole deal hits home for me.
My main axe is a homebuilt FrankenClone based on a Voce V3and runs through my homebrew Bride of FrankenLeslie speaks (the rig description is long ;-) I have a micro-B and micro-BII, also but they don't get out much. In Frank is also a Kurzweil microPiano.

I throw the VFX-SD on top for all the great synth sounds thatFrank doesn't do, so getting a B3 on the Ensoniq isn't gonna get it for me ;-)

If a guy hadda MS pro3, then the microB should sound dandy and give you more flexibility than relying strictly on the VFX. I'm sure there's one or two "Hammond sounds" the VFX can do better, but overall, I'd give the nod to the microB. Add on a set of Voce drawbars and it'll become REAL apparent.

Subject: Re: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Best B3/Leslie patchesBill,I have a Micro B II and the sounds are good (GOOD). I found that I use my ensoniq settings (both SD-1 and TS) and not the Voce unit. In my opinion the real sound of the B-3 is found more in the Leslie, than inthe sample/patch. I picked up a motion sound pro3tm (it has a rotating horn) and using stock patches veterans in my band jaws dropped. I'm
looking for factory or modified factory patches. Has anyone done any
tweaking and created a better mousetrap?
If not, what is a good B3 emulation that is affordable? I just lost a
Voce Micro-B II on ebay for $240 - is that the most bang for the buck?
