I had an old 'original' VFX that had the keyboard problem. It was funny because the dealer
that I bought it from, used in 1991, sent it back to Ensoniq for repair. Ensoniq returned the
synth to the dealer and claimed it had no problem. I took it home and again, the keyboard
failed its calibration routine.
I then took a look for my self - my solution was to merely clean the contacts on the key-
board's two circuit boards. The problem went away and never returned (I sold it several
years later).
I thought I would mention this as not everyone is handy with a soldering iron. I would
definately NOT used the alternate fix mentioned on the website: 'to push down on the
center of the keyboard until you hear the circuit boards shift.' OUCH!
