Up to you.  I tend not to use battery holders, because although they do
make subsequent replacement easier the batteries can fall out when the
instrument is being transported!  All very well if you've got a VFX-SD
or SD1, where you just reload from your backup disks (hey, you *did*
make backup disks, didn't you?)...
