I am trying to make songs on the VFX-SD. I have no problem using the sequencer or anything like that (yet - I haven't gone into anything too advanced...), but the only thing that's stopping me make some of these songs (I'm focusing on 80's songs by the way), is how the default sounds on the VFX-SD aren't anything great. They're not bad, but now I really can see why Ensoniq put a floppy drive in this synthesizer...
Anyway, I have been looking at the sounds stored on here, which thankfully there are many. I now want to know a couple of things. The first is can I sample what these sounds are like before putting them onto my synth?
The second is can I transfer these via a floppy disk? I have the right floppy type (the low-density), but I can't see any way to transfer .syx to a floppy. I'm moving so half my stuff is in boxes, including the midi cable for my synth.
The last is can I only use VFX-SD sounds on here, or can I use sounds say for the SD-1? They're all in .syx format.
Thanks,
Jonathan.

you need a sysex utility program or a sequencer
program pc or mac you then have to dump the sound to the synth via
midi
then save to disk
its no good sampling the sounds as the vfx is only
a rompler
it is impossible to convert to vfx floppy format
disk from sysex data or any sysex data to any form of synth or sampler
floppy format
you can use sd1 sysex but when you get presets with
the extended rom samples in they will be left blank in the vfx-sd
