Hi, I don't know if the expansion might have added a new battery or not. The plain VFX battery isn't anything exotic. My plain VFX had the equivalent of a CR2032 attached to the circuit board. I think it was pretty close to being under the display screen; maybe a little farther back from the keys. I had a technician solder in a battery holder for a CR2032. Next time, replacing the battery will be even simpler. While you're in there... In the archives, you can probably read about the keyboard fix. This involves a connection, between two circuit boards under the keyboard, that has a tendency to come undone.
