Hey, I've got a totaly unrelated question. It has to do with using
external MIDI gear and the sequencer.

Say I've got a MIDI controller (in this case a DrumKAT EZ, you hit it
with a drumstick, it makes a midi message) and an external
multitimbral module (in this case a Roland JV-1080), and you want to
record some playing from the external controller, and both the new
notes you're playing on the external controller and already existing
notes in other tracks are supposed to play back on the external,
multitimbral module.

In other words, track 1 has data for external midi channel 1, and you
want to record track 2 with data from midi IN channel 2, while
listening to track 1, so both pre-recorded notes on track 1 and the
notes currently being recorded on track 2 (midi channels 1 & 2) should
be coming out to the external module, merged.

Can you do this? I couldn't figure out how, at least not without an
external midi-merger piece of hardware.
