Newbie to group with dumb?? question

Newbie to group with dumb?? question

2006-01-31 by Robert Park

What is the difference between the VFX-SD and the VFX-SDII? How can
you tell what you have? I have a VFX-SD that was made in early 1990,
but was upgraded a few months after I bought it. I don't even
remember what the upgrade was for I think for some chip replacement it
is currently OS 2.1 ROM 2.0. Does this mean I have a SDII?

I just pulled a bunch of my old midi studio equipment out of storage
including the VFX-SD and am trying to relearn how to use it after over
10 years.

The SDII had expanded piano ROM, called Mega-Piano. There may be a few
more things.

Hi Robert!
How to tell the difference between the VFXSD & the VFXSD II:
Load the VFXSD INT sound bank. Press the 0 bank key. If the top center patch says MEGA-PIANO then you have the VFXSD II. The VFXSD does not have the MEGA-PIANO wave.
Easy, huh? Sandy

I have never seen this warning (maybe I'm not the best to answer this) but I did just order a battery WITH HOLDER from route66 for around 13.95+4.25 domestic S&H. The idea is to solder in the new holder, then future battery changes do not need soldering. I don't know how long the second battery will last. my first lasted 10 years.
