New owner of a SD-1

New owner of a SD-1

2011-03-20 by jondl_2000

Hello list members - first post...

My name is Jon Levinson, I'm a hobbyist/musician and I've just this weekend purchased a SD-1 in fine condition from a local arranger/composer.

Aside from some rack wear on the lower front edge (appears to have been set-up on a tiered keyboard stand at some past date) I'm pleased with the overall condition of this board and it's cleaned up nice with little elbow grease.

I'd always wanted a VFX/SD/TS series Keyboard, but at this late date I remain uncertain whether I want to live with this board or flip it. We'll see one way or the other in a few months...

In the mean time, a couple of questions I hope somebody can help with:

1) There is an internal screw loose that rattles around the case when the SD-1 is moved. Is there anything I should be aware of prior to opening the case to affect a repair - so I don't naively cause any damage?

2) The System Software is ROM v 3.00 KPC v 2.33 - I'm uncertain what advantage there would be in pursuing an upgrade to OS 4.10? Is this worth spending time/money/effort on? Is Route 66 Studio's a reliable source of parts? They seem to have been around a few years.

My thanks in advance for your assistance.

Regards,

Jon
