EEPROM Cartridges

2011-06-08 by john bluhm

I'll bet there are some people here who would be willing to sell a VFX ROM cartridge so
you could convert it to an EEPROM. I remember Ensoniq dealers would give those ROM
cartridges away for free just so they could get you into their store to give you their sales
pitch for the latest gear they were trying to sell.
Making it from scratch ~ it would not be hard to make the circuit board (as it a dual sided
board, and not a multi-layer board); but, how could you possibly make the plastic case?

That may well be the case, but that's not what I'm looking for.

Exactly.

I don't particularly care about the plastic case - and in a previous post I included a link to an eBay auction where the seller is making & selling ESQ-1 cartridges, apparently from scratch, without the corresponding plastic case. Something similar that would still protect the inside of the keyboard could probably be made instead - but it doesn't have to be identical.

Being able to make new EEPROM (and for that matter, EPROM) cartridges strikes me as a very good thing in general.

Best wishes,

// Christian

making a case is not a problem take it to link51 they make a injection mould from old case and produce new ones
ive done this with various plastic parts for engineering jobs that are not produced any more to keep
but as i use floppy disks never really had the use for cartriges and now the floppy emulator can read and write edm files ill be going with that next

Oh, you can have the cases made as well...
