EMU was notorious for rushing products to the market early but they
were by no means the only culprit. Ensoniq, Kurzweil, Sequential,
and
most other smaller manufacturers were left with little choice because
they did not have the capital necessary to finalize R&D and work out
all the bugs before marketing the product. It sucked for those of us
who spent thousands of dollars on their products only to buy a
headache, but in the end it was often remedied. My EII+ and EIII had
serious issues, mostly software related, but eventually they were
fixed
and I was happy with the instruments.
