Re: I am new to this group want to say hello and question about Fairlight Series

Hi,

Try to stretch to a Series3 running Rev. 9.34.
This is a 16 bit machine rather than the old 8 bit and is terrific!
100kHz sampling, bigger memory more features, etc. etc. etc....

The IIx is nice though. Warm samples (although limited by length and
bandwidth). 8" floppies are still available from Virtual Music in
Vienna. IIx were produced with MIDI capability and have a larger
memory than earlier machines.

Parts are available from various sources, particularly for Series 3
Fairlights, but are more difficult to get hold of for Series 1 and !11
machines, and many are just obsolete!.

A Series 3 can be upgraded to MFX if you run 9.34 software, but expect
to have to pay!

Good luck!,

CJ
